Customized Lithium Niobate Piezoelectric Ring Wafer Orientation Z-cut or 36Y-cut
Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3, LN) crystal is a negative uniaxial crystal and is one of the most comprehensively characterized optical materials. LN crystal has a wide range of transparency in visible and mid-infrared light and good chemical and mechanical stability, which can be used as an infrared birefringent material.
LN (lithium niobate) crystal has many advantages such as high electro-optic coefficient, wide optical transparency window and high optical quality crystal. LN (lithium niobate) crystal is the preferred material for optical modulation and Q-switch in near-infrared and infrared bands. For the electro-optic modulator, the crystal performs zero residual birefringence along the direction of light propagation with Z-cut, or non-zero residual birefringence and max effective electro-optic coefficient with X-cut. For Q-switches, the crystal is typically Z-cut, with zero residual birefringence and a transverse electric field applied in the direction of light propagation. The piezoelectric ring in LN has a defect at high repetition rates, but this defect can be overcome to some extent by appropriate piezoelectric damping design.
